Thomas “Tommy” Davenport, Jr. is an experienced trial attorney and the principal of The Davenport Firm, APLC. He focuses on litigation in criminal defense, personal injury and civil court. He actively handles trials and appeals. Since starting The Davenport Firm, APLC, in 2002, Tommy consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic and compassion for his clients.

Tommy has trained under preeminent trial attorney Gerry Spence through the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College. The Trial Lawyers College with Gerry Spence trains and educates lawyers and judges, who are dedicated to the jury system and who defend and obtain justice for individuals. With a curriculum based on psychodrama, the college offers several courses and seminars throughout the year. The college teaches how to utilize psychodrama skills in cases, to understand clients and their stories, and to ultimately win justice in the courtroom.

Prior to opening his firm, Tommy served as a clerk to United States District Judge John V. Parker in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. This prestigious appointment allowed Tommy to gain experience in the inner workings of the court and learn firsthand how judicial staff analyze and decide lawsuits, defenses, and pretrial motions.

Tommy earned his law degree from the Southern University Law Center. He graduated with honors and in the top 10 percent of his class, earned the Chancellor’s Award, and was named an All American Scholar by the United States Achievement Academy. He also earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with an Associate of Arts in Criminal Justice from the Northeast Louisiana University, graduating with honors.

Tommy is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association as well as the bars for the United States Court of Appeals, Fifth Circuit, and the United States District Court for the Western District. He is also a member of the Louisiana Association for Justice, Louisiana State Bar Association, the Knights of Columbus,

Tommy has also taught clinical courses at the Southern University Law Center supervising students in their representation of indigent clients charged with felonies and misdemeanors.
